Steven, Thanks for a succinct presentation of the impact of Salutogenesis. I would appreciate more context/backgroun about “Generalized Resistance Resources.” In what sense are you using the word “resistence”? It seems like you are referring to Generalized “Resilience” Reources clearly demonstrating that the practice of Salutogenesis creates a more resilient human being. Please clarify.
Paul, the salutogenic framework, according to Antonovsky, et. al., defines “resistance” in the context of stress and disease and the ability of a person to resist the effects of stress. “Resilience” would be an appropriate description of the effects of “resistance resources.” The way you have characterized it (resilience resource) would be more in alignment with the salutogenic framework. “Resistance Resources” are characterized as “general” because the resources are characteristics of an individual to resist stress, in general. “Specific Resistance Resources” are, generally, those which are acquired external to the individual, such as mental health care, or meditation practice. The revolutionary nature of SCM + the methods of The NHU evolve the human being, over time, into anti-fragility, in which “stress” amplifies thriving; challenges become opportunities. One’s whole existence becomes a Generalized Thriving Resource, resistance & resilience. Thank you for your comment.
