What Is Skin in the Game?

To have “skin in the game” is to have incurred risk by being involved in achieving a goal. The risk can be monetary, but it can also be existential. “Skin in the game” was popularized by renowned investor Warren Buffett referring to a situation in which high-ranking insiders use their own money to buy stock in the company they are running. In the phrase, “skin” refers to an investment (literal or figurative), and “game” is the metaphor for actions on the field of play under discussion.

At The New Human University, the field of play is the evolutionary future of humanity, the role of New Humans in networked structure of the Kosmos, and creation of a heaven on Earth.

The Play for Heaven on Earth

Armchair warriors are a dime a dozen. According to Nassim Nicholas Taleb, author of “Skin in the Game,” skin in the game means having a measurable risk when taking a major decision. He postulates that skin in the game is necessary for fairness as well as being necessary to understand the world.
