Believe it, or not…

Was the universe created? Or has it always existed? It’s exceedingly difficult to deny that there was a “Big Bang“; an explosion of matter & energy which evolved into the Universe as we know it today (assuming we know it at all). There are two major scientific discoveries which provide staunch support for the Big Bang theory, for which there is an abundance of empirical evidence

1. Hubble’s discovery of a relationship between a galaxy’s distance from Earth and its speed
2. the discovery of cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation.

Based on the evidence, many cosmologists believe that both space and time had a beginning. In other words, spacetime was conceived and created. But other cosmologists, who cannot stand the thought of creation, resolve any inkling of a creator of a creation with an infinite cycle of creation and destruction: from Big Bang to Big Crunch to Big Bang to Big Crunch without beginning and without an end. So, one either asserts that spacetime was created, or that spacetime has existed eternally & infinitely without beginning nor end. If you really understand the concept of infinity — it’s not just a really really really big number that’s difficult to imagine — then belief in an infinite cycle without a beginning isn’t much more sophisticated than belief in a creation!  Afterall, our own creative thoughts come into existence within our consciousness and those thoughts turn into things & behaviors. If one already believes in an infinite, eternal cycle of Bang-Crunch of all the matter & energy in the universe, then it’s not much of a stretch to understand infinite consciousness, and infinite creativity. So, for the purposes of this blog (and of the New Human University) let’s go with this interpretation of the evidence:

Time was created. Space was created. What created it? What does this evidence for creation say about you & me?

Something from Nothing

If spacetime has a birthday, then something came from nothing. But that “nothing” had capacity to create. “Nothing” created space, time, matter, and energy. “Nothing” is really something that is transcendent to space, time, matter, and energy. Research shows that under the right conditions, humans can experience transcendence of time and space. In PraxisAletheia, the class of 2021 experienced an average of (42.9 ± 11.3)% increase in self-reported Mystical Experience which includes “Transcendence of Space & Time.”  In this transcendent state, one becomes aware of this “Nothing” and that one’s mind is an integral part of that which brough forth the Universe. In other words, we can experience, and know, that our mind directly intersects God.

Power to Create

According to some estimates the mass of the universe is 1.5 × 10⁵³  Kg, which is equivalent to an energy of

At least 1.35 billion-trillion-trillion-trillion-trillion-trillion units of energy

If something came from nothing, and something has THAT amount of energy (in the form of matter), then how much energy does “nothing” — a.k.a. consciousness, ground of being, God by any other name — have at its disposal to create?  And if our minds directly intersect infinite consciousness, then how much creative power is at our own disposal, and what prevents us from accessing more of it?
